Battery cell fabrication and cycling services
The contract covers battery cell prototyping and cycling services for the Centre for Process Innovation Limited (CPI), an industrial research and technology organisation supporting process innovation and advanced materials development. The supplier will manufacture electrodes through mixing, coating and calendering; assemble coin, single- or multilayer pouch, and cylindrical cells; and perform electrochemical testing including formation, cycling, GITT, EIS and HPPC. CPI will provide slurry formulations or coated electrodes, cell specifications and testing protocols, while the supplier must produce test-ready cells, deliver reproducible performance data, provide regular reports, offer technical advice on cell-level optimisation, and securely handle sensitive materials. The services must support mainly liquid-electrolyte lithium-ion chemistries, with flexibility to extend to sodium-ion systems, and include transparent open-book information on baseline material sources and compositions. The contract value and delivery locations are not specified; the framework period is not published, with options for 12-month extensions at CPI’s discretion. The critical qualification is demonstrable capability to provide high-quality, reproducible fabrication and testing with transparent baseline material specifications.

From the official notice
CPI is seeking to procure cell prototyping services to support the validation and performance evaluation of electrochemical energy storage materials. The scope of this procurement includes: - Electrode Manufacturing (mixing, coating, and calendering) - Cell Assembly (Coin, single/multilayer pouch and cylindrical formats) - Electrochemical Performance Testing (including formation, cycling, GITT, EIS, and HPPC) The successful service provider(s) will receive slurry formulation compositions and/or coated electrodes, cell specifications, and testing protocols from CPI. The scope includes transforming these into finished, test-ready cells, delivering the subsequent electrochemical performance data, and providing technical consultation regarding cell-level optimization. We require a provider capable of delivering high-quality, reproducible fabrication and testing services with the flexibility to handle various liquid-electrolyte cell chemistries, primarily Li-ion, and extensible to Na-ion systems. To ensure data replicability, the provider must adopt a transparent, 'open-book' approach to baseline material specifications including material source and composition information. Ancillary services, including the provision of regular data reports and the secure handling of sensitive material sets, are also in scope.
