Biodiversity Net Gain and Nutrient Neutrality: Assessment of Opportunity and Delivery Roles for Nort
The contract covers an assessment of opportunities for the North York Moors and New Forest National Park Authorities to undertake wider roles in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Nutrient Neutrality (NN) markets. The buyers are statutory National Park Authorities responsible for conserving and enhancing protected landscapes, acting also as Local Planning Authorities with duties relating to biodiversity and development regulation. The supplier must assess potential roles and services, including advice, ecology and monitoring services, brokering landowner opportunities, convening partners, conservation covenant responsibilities, and operating habitat banks, then appraise governance, resources, risks, environmental outcomes and social and health benefits. The commission also requires an outline business case for preferred options, covering commercial viability, operational effort, timelines, dependencies, delivery models and safeguards, followed by recommendations and an implementation roadmap. The estimated contract value is £50,000, with no duration stated; work will relate to the North York Moors and New Forest National Parks and delivery regions in the North East and South East of England. The key requirement is demonstrated expertise in BNG and NN markets, ecological services and options or business-case appraisal for protected-landscape authorities.
