British Sign Language Customer Information Service
The contract covers the design, implementation and operation of a national British Sign Language (BSL) customer information solution for the Rail Delivery Group (RDG), the UK rail industry body responsible for coordinating and representing passenger and freight railway companies. The supplier must consume approved industry data sources, process the information and generate BSL translations that can be displayed through National Rail Enquiries digital channels, station screens and onboard screens. The solution is expected to be ready for implementation on National Rail Enquiries channels by 30 September 2027, with delivery and ongoing operational expenditure included in the tendered scope. The estimated contract value is £1,000,000, covering both capital and operational costs, for an initial one-year term with an intended two-year extension subject to funding confirmation. Delivery locations are not specified, although the service must support national rail information channels and displays. The critical qualification requirement is the ability to provide a functioning BSL solution that integrates approved industry data and delivers translations for the specified passenger-facing channels.
