C-26-001 Public Transport Shelter Improvement Programme (Bus and Tram)
The contract covers the full design and build of an improved family of bus and tram shelters, stops and passenger information assets for the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), the regional public transport authority for South Yorkshire. The supplier will first develop concept designs, then progress through detailed design and construction, delivering a hierarchy of infrastructure that includes distinctive architectural shelters, modular and maintainable standard shelters, and redesigned stop or pole facilities with clear service identification and passenger information. The programme is intended to support South Yorkshire’s transition to public control of bus services alongside trams, with durable, accessible, human-centred designs reflecting regional identity and coordinated with the South Yorkshire People’s Network. SYMCA aims to enter the Design and Build contract by March 2027, begin concept design thereafter, and have the first shelters installed by January 2028 under a prioritised rollout plan; no contract value is specified. Delivery is across South Yorkshire, United Kingdom (UKE3). Bidders must be able to undertake the complete staged design-and-build scope, and the procurement welcomes joint ventures and consortiums.
