Domestic Violence Refuge and Social Housing at Evergreen Road, Turner’s Cross, Cork
The contract covers the renovation and extension of the existing convent building at Turner’s Cross, Cork, to create a domestic violence refuge with associated services and 20 accommodation units, together with two new four-storey residential blocks providing 32 apartments. Good Shepherd Cork, a social and community support organisation operating in the domestic violence refuge and social housing sector, is procuring the construction works, including parking, access roads and ancillary services. The supplier must deliver the development and submit tenders for three options: the complete scheme, phased delivery, and the domestic violence refuge only; the refuge element has full funding approval, while funding for the housing element is expected to be confirmed. The estimated contract value is £22 million, with no contract duration or completion timeframe stated. The works will be delivered at the Evergreen Road site in Turner’s Cross, Cork, Ireland. The critical requirement is the ability to undertake the specified major construction, renovation, residential and associated infrastructure works, with the tender response addressing all three requested delivery options.

From the official notice
The project comprises the renovation and extension of the existing convent building at Turner’s Cross, Cork to provide a Domestic Violence Refuge including associated services and 20 no. accommodation units. It also includes the Construction of 2 no. new 4 storey residential blocks to provide 32 no. apartments and all associated parking, roads and ancillary services. Tenderers are required to tender 3 no. options including a Phased Delivery and ‘DVR only’. GSC remains confident that the housing element will be funded in a timely fashion and the build out will comprise both elements. This site in Turners Cross is a substantial inner suburb site and the desirability of the build out of both aspects of the scheme is reflected in the passage of the Part VIII through Cork City Council. Nevertheless, the various options are set out to prudently allow for receipt of funding confirmation. Subject to tender responses, the DVR has been fully approved for funding.
