Drive-by-Wire System for Autonomous Vehicle Research
Future Mobility Campus Ireland CLG (FMCI), an organisation operating Ireland-based testbed facilities for research, development and innovation in autonomous, connected, electric and shared mobility, is procuring a complete drive-by-wire system for an autonomous-vehicle research platform. The supplier must nominate a compatible, reasonably available right-hand-drive battery-electric passenger vehicle, then supply, install, integrate, commission and support the system, enabling electronic control of steering, propulsion, braking, gear selection and indicators while retaining immediate manual override and emergency-stop fail-safe functions. The solution must support low-speed remote operation, provide a documented ROS 2 interface running on FMCI’s NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin platform and AArch64/ARM64, and undergo objective acceptance testing, training and maintenance without undisclosed mandatory subscriptions or unsupported proprietary dependencies. The estimated contract value is £120,000, with delivery in Ireland; the vehicle itself will be procured separately by FMCI. The critical qualification is demonstrating a road-legal, Irish-registerable right-hand-drive battery-electric vehicle platform that is compatible with the proposed DBW system and available through Irish dealerships.
