Leeds City Council, the local authority responsible for public services and housing in Leeds, intends to establish a closed framework for fire stopping and passive fire protection works across its housing and non-housing properties. The appointed contractors will undertake pre-works property surveys, fire stopping, compartmentation repairs, fire door set and planned maintenance works in non-housing properties, and remediation of defects identified through schedules of rates. Deliverables also include before-and-after fire-stopping photography, compliance certificates, approval and sign-off of completed works, installation or repair of loft hatches, fire blankets, fire sleeves, sealant and fire batting, and support for the Council’s fire strategy, with door and compartment breaches addressed against the required ratings. Up to two contractors may be appointed for three years, with a discretionary 12-month extension, at an estimated value of up to £350,000 per year or £1.4 million over the full term including the extension. Work will be delivered across Leeds, and the key qualification requirement is that contractors must be suitably qualified to carry out fire risk assessment, fire stopping and passive fire protection works.
