LPC1: Peatland Restoration and Grazing Infrastructure
Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, a local authority, is seeking an experienced contractor to deliver peatland restoration and grazing infrastructure works across two upland sites in South Wales. At Cwmparc, above Treorchy, the scope covers restoration of plateau peatland and the adjacent cwm valley, together with installation of grazing infrastructure to support long-term habitat management; at Cefn Morfudd, above Neath, it covers hydrological restoration of degraded peatland and associated infrastructure works. The programme is divided into three packages—Cwmparc peatland restoration, Cefn Morfudd peatland restoration, and Cwmparc grazing infrastructure—and bidders must submit a single offer for all three packages. Delivery is scheduled over two winter working periods, from November 2026 to 28 February 2027 and from 1 October 2027 to 28 February 2028. The value is not specified, and the critical qualification is demonstrable experience delivering comparable peatland restoration and infrastructure works, including work subject to Scheduled Ancient Monument and specialist unexploded ordnance supervision constraints.
