Play Equipment at Ladygrove Park, Didcot
The contract covers the design, supply and installation of new play equipment at Ladygrove Park, a 29-acre public open space in Didcot, together with potential relocation of the existing multi-play unit and installation of an accessible see-saw. Didcot Town Council, a local government organisation responsible for community facilities and recreation, seeks an adventurous, inclusive play environment primarily for children aged 5 to 11, using the park’s two landscaped mounds and linking them where appropriate through features such as tunnels, bridges, slides, climbing elements and natural play features. Proposals must modernise and complement the existing playground, address seasonal flooding affecting the current equipment location, identify deliverables within the confirmed £40,000 budget and additional enhancements possible if funding increases the project value to approximately £100,000, including an anticipated £80,000 for new equipment and £20,000 for relocation and accessibility works. Delivery is at Ladygrove Park, Didcot, within the specified UK regions. All equipment and surfacing must comply with EN1176, BS7188 and EN1177, which is the key mandatory technical requirement.

From the official notice
Ladygrove Park is a well-used public open space located within the Ladygrove area of Didcot, comprising approximately 29 acres of accessible green space. Tenderers are encouraged to develop innovative design proposals that incorporate these existing landforms and create a cohesive play experience by linking the mounds where appropriate. As part of the overall design, contractors should consider the relocation of the existing multi-play unit to higher ground within the play area. The current location is susceptible to seasonal flooding during the winter months, and proposals should demonstrate how relocating this equipment could improve its long-term usability and accessibility. The Council invites tenderers to submit their own design concepts, making imaginative use of features such as, but not limited to: • Tunnels • Bridges • Slides • Climbing elements • Accessible and inclusive play features • Natural play opportunities The proposed design should complement the existing playground while significantly enhancing the quality, variety and accessibility of the play experience.
