Targeted Prostate Cancer Screening Programme – PSA Laboratory Processing Service
The contract covers a national Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) laboratory processing and virtual screening pathway coordination service for NHS England’s Targeted Prostate Cancer Screening Programme, which focuses on men in England at increased risk because of an inherited BRCA2 variant. The provider will manage PSA sample logistics from the agreed collection handoff point, receipt and accessioning, laboratory processing, result authorisation and secure transmission, while supplying consumables and maintaining sample and pathway tracking, failsafe arrangements, programme data and reporting. It will also coordinate virtual screening pathway appointments, including MRI following an above-threshold PSA result and biopsy or urology appointments following an actionable MRI result, within the approved pathway; diagnostic MRI, biopsy, treatment, genetic testing and national IT development are excluded. The estimated contract value is £238,608, with the service delivered nationally across the UK for the programme’s duration, which is not specified in the available details. The critical requirement is the ability to deliver the specified NHS-approved PSA laboratory and pathway coordination service under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
