LEGISLATION PRINT PUBLISHING CONTRACT
The contract requires The National Archives, the UK public body responsible for preserving and providing access to the nation’s archives, to appoint a supplier to print and publish legislation and associated materials. The supplier will produce legislation, annual bound volumes, legislative effects, Chronological Tables and correction slips, manage all print production, make items available for sale, and provide order fulfilment and customer services including payment handling, enquiries, complaints, despatch and records. It must also invoice government departments for online publishing fees, pursue overdue payments, report outstanding debts and transfer collected fees to The National Archives quarterly, although online publishing itself is excluded. The contract is estimated at £3.5 million in the procurement notice and approximately £4.2 million including VAT over a maximum five-year term, comprising an initial two years plus three optional one-year extensions. Delivery is across the United Kingdom, with legislation required to meet exacting specifications and prescribed, non-negotiable statutory deadlines; the critical qualification is the ability to provide this compliant, high-quality statutory print publishing service.
